The founders of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream - Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield - resisted the inexorable national movement toward lowfat and fat-free products, according to Peter Lind, who has the title "Primal Ice Cream Therapist" at Ben & Jerry's.

"These guys didn't believe in a lowfat product," he said. "It was outside their realm of thinking. So when the lowfat, no-fat, no-cholesterol, light and totally reduced everything craze hit the country, it was rejected categorically. They saw anything with less than 15% fat as cheap and non-quality."
