FORT WAYNE, Ind.--Nov. 7--Fort Wayne National Corp. hopes customers of Valley American Bank in South Bend hardly notice their bank has a new owner. Valley American will continue to operate under the same name, with the same people in place. After all, said Jackson Lehman, chairman of Fort Wayne National, a bank's price is largely for customer loyalty and good will.
"We don't want to destroy that in the first two weeks" by tearing down signs and replacing them with a new name, he said.
Fort Wayne National will pay $110 million in cash and stock for Valley Financial Services Inc., the holding company for Valley American Bank & Trust Co. The South Bend-based bank ...
