Oct. 6--Thirty-four cotton buyers from 19 countries toured Calcot Ltd. Wednesday, the last day of an annual 12-day tour of the American Cotton Belt. New cotton buyers from Croatia and Vietnam joined big-time buyers from Japan and Korea feeling wool-like, pricey Pima cotton in the classing room and talking prices, lengths and spinning strengths.
"They don't all speak the same tongue, but they speak the same language," said Mark Bagby, Calcot director of communications.
Calcot Ltd. is a Bakersfield-based cotton marketing cooperative for 3,000 farmers in California and Arizona.
