SAN FRANCISCO -- Apple Inc. is going small, but not low-priced, with a super-thin notebook computer that some tech analysts believe could shake up the laptop business despite lacking some features available in larger machines.
The MacBook Air, introduced at the Macworld Expo here Tuesday, is the newest addition to the venerable Macintosh line and Apple's latest bid for a larger slice of the personal-computer market. Three pounds and less than two-tenths of an inch at its slimmest point, it will start at $1,799 when it hits stores in two weeks.
