"Do you want to sleep over tonight?" asked Ryan.
"What do you mean?" questioned Treddy. "Sunday night is a school night."
"Not when Monday is Columbus Day," Ryan said smugly.
"I forgot!" Treddy said. "That means we could get up early and spend the whole day working on the treehouse."
After asking his parents' permission, Treddy gathered his sleeping bag and extra clothes. Then he and Ryan took the shortcut to Ryan's house - down the trail, over the creek, and past the buckeye tree that held their half-finished treehouse.
"There sure is a lot of work left to do," said Treddy.
"Yeah, but we can knock it out in a day," said Ryan.
