Sony to debut BD Live players soon.

By Susanne Ault

Sony's debut Web-enabled Blu-ray Disc set-tops will start hitting retail in the next several months.

The manufacturer's first such BD Live player, the BDP-S350, will launch this summer as 'ready' to handle Web-enabled features. It will have an Ethernet port for downloading content, but it won't be able to actually playback the BD Live material until a firmware upgrade is made available at a still to be determined date.

Sony's second model, the BDP-S550, is slated to street in the fall as a full-fledged BD Live player.

The BDP-S350 and BDP-S550 are priced at about $400 and $500, respectively, matching the current prices for BD set-tops.
