YOUNGSTERS have been warned they are dicing with death by accessing a derelict chemical works.
Firefighters were called to the former Steetley site, in Old Cemetery Road Hartlepool, at the weekend and say dangers include open manhole covers, where intruders could be seriously hurt if they fall inside.
The former chemical works has been highlighted through various Mail campaigns - including Spot the Grots and Sort Out Steetley - and Hartlepool Mayor Stuart Drummond has placed it on a hit list of sites which are in need of action.
Fire chiefs have been the latest to warn of the dangers of the site after being called to tackle two fires.
