The British House of Commons is examining, on 5 March, an amendment from the Conservatives, the main opposition party, demanding a referendum to be held on the Lisbon Treaty.
Two days earlier, protesters had climbed a crane next to the House of Commons in central London to unfold banners with the inscriptions Referendum now' and Let us vote'. For these militants, the government must keep its promise.
