Whether they're springing for a rich Vermont cheddar they can't match at the local supermarket or choosing an easy way to check relatives off their gift list, the number of people ordering food by mall is growing fast. Mail-order food companies logged nearly eight million orders in 1993, the last year for which statistics are available. That's an increase of more than 40% over the previous year.
