The Canadian Medical Association certainly didn't win any popularity contests in July 2007 for its proposals to deal with waiting lists in health care. It advocates changes to the system that would enable physicians to work both inside and outside the publicly insured programs. This has brought a negative reaction. All of Canada's major newspapers, right, left and centre, have criticized the CMA for its stance, as have politicians of every stripe. The Association is charged with trying to bring a U.S. style two-tier system to Canada.
