Sujian Guo's The Political Economy of Asian Transition Economies is an exploration of the degree to which China, North Korea, Vietnam, Laos PDR and Cambodia have adopted systems of market-based incentives in the interest of economic development. Unfortunately, Guo offers very little discussion of "development" and dedicates the majority of his work to a tedious discussion of bland economic indicators.
