A TOTAL of 39 flats and a restaurant will be built in Berwick following the decision to approve planning applications for the former Youngman's shop and the Playhouse theatre.
The two properties, both in decay, in Hide Hill and Sandgate respectively, will be demolished and the new buildings erected on the footprint of the sites, with semi-private courtyards giving access to the flats.
Berwick Borough Council planning committee held detailed discussions on the applications, both put forward by developers Park Portfolios Ltd, at a meeting on Tuesday evening.
