J. Lee Wiederholt, a founding member of the Council for Learning Disabilities and leader in the field of special education, died unexpectedly August 19, 2007. Dr. Wiederholt contributed to special education in a variety of ways. He began his career as a special educator in the Philadelphia public schools. He also served as an associate professor at the University of Arizona, where he directed the Leadership Training Institute in Learning Disabilities, and as a professor and department chairperson at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was the Audrey Rogers Myers Centennial Professor in Education.
