NEW YORK -- Upscale jewelry designers have found that adding hair accessories to their offerings is a relatively easy and cost-efficient way to boost revenue. Although hair goods account for a small share of overall business -- roughly five percent -- many designers say demand is growing and they expect to expand their lines each season.
Most build on trends started within their oan jewelry collections and stick to hard goods -- barrettes, headbands, hair sticks and the ubiquitous bobby pins -- because they are easy to mesh with established jewelry-making production techniques.
