Vada Pinson, a former star center-fielder for the Cincinnati Reds who twice led the National League in hits, recently died after suffering a stroke in Oakland, CA. He was 57.

The two-time All Star had suffered a stroke which left him in a coma for more than a week. He later regained consciousness.

Pinson, who signed his first professional contract at 17, played for the Cincinnati Reds in the 1960s. He spent 11 of his 18 seasons with the team.
