A permanent home for Seamer Horse Fair's gipsies and travellers is causing an uproar among residents.
Land off Stoney Haggs Road off the A64 has been earmarked to cater for the dozens of travellers who turn up for the annual event in July.
The controversial site, near the junction of Seamer Moor Lane, was chosen by members of a Scarborough Council task group after examining possible sites.
Seamer Ward councillors Lucy Haycock and Helen Mallory say residents will be furious at the proposal.
Local authorities are required by law to produce a gipsy and traveller accommodation strategy and demonstrate adequate provision is made for them.
