The local community must now "brace itself" to defend its marine wildlife against the race for fossil fuels, says the Green Party.
It has condemned a plan by the UK government to open nearly all of Scotland's seas for oil and gas exploration, fearing the disturbance will mean whales and dolphins having to "run the gauntlet" down local coasts.
The party has branded the move "irresponsible" and add that they will work through the Scottish Parliament to block the scheme which comes hot on the heels of the ship-to-ship oil proposal which was abandoned by Forth Ports.
