Rain causes some road closings
WORCESTER - Yesterday's heavy rains, expected to be up to 1 inch, had already closed sections of several roads by 7:15 p.m. According to the Department of Public Works, Cambridge and Southgate streets under railroad bridges were closed, as was part of Southbridge Street. Lincoln and Grafton streets had minimal flooding and were still passable. The heavy rain and a blocked culvert also caused O'Hare Brook to run over Sunderland Road, between Grafton and Danvers streets, and flood two basements, said Joseph W. Buckley, assistant director of sewer operations at the DPW. The road reopened at 8 p.m.
