THE RESULT OF the US presidential election, which will be held on 4 November, is very difficult to predict as the three remaining candidates all perform well in national polls. The latest head-to-head polls suggest Republican John McCain versus Democrat Hillary Clinton would lead to a McCain victory with a spread of 1.4%, while McCain versus Clinton's democratic rival Barack Obama would lead to an Obama victory with a spread of 3.3%. It will be a close-run race and at this point, the polls are weak indicators of the final outcome.
