The majority of Catholics and Protestants in Derry don't want republican and loyalist flags flown in the city, new research reveals.
In all, more than 60 per cent of people surveyed in five areas across the city say they don't support the flying of emblems such as the Union flag, the Irish Tricolour and various paramilitary insignia.
The research was carried out by the city's St Columb's Park House Reconciliation Centre as part of its "Negotiating Change" project into the extent of Protestant alienation across Derry. The Centre is to now ask Derry City Council to convene a meeting of political leaders to discuss the findings.
