CORVALLIS - Bye-bye, Platypus.
For now.
After a 40-something-year absence, the infamous Platypus Trophy of Civil War football lore is back here after a long, strange trip indeed.
"As far as reviving the trophy, we're both glad that we're actually making an exchange this year," said University of Oregon senior and Student Alumni Association President Chauncey Freeman, standing between Gill Coliseum and Reser Stadium on Sunday, with his friend and fellow student, Paul Smith. "But it's an awfully sad occasion that we have to give it up the first year after reviving it."
