EAGAN, Minn. -- Northwest Airlines (NYSE: NWA) has presented the Nature Conservancy with a gift of $333,000 as part of the $1 million dollar pledge to its founding EarthCares partner. To celebrate this occasion, 33 Northwest Airlines employees traveled to Vicksburg, Miss. to plant trees as part of a carbon sequestration project near the Tensas River Wildlife Refuge, which is south of Tallulah, Louisiana.
EarthCares is Northwest's program for implementing new environmental initiatives, such as The Nature Conservancy donation, which will protect land in the Mississippi River Valley from future development and sequester and store carbon.
