On July 2, 2007, the Hammill Institute on Disabilities, a nonprofit public charity, acquired ownership of PRO-ED's 14 professional journals, including the Remedial and Special Education. The Institute, which is now the publisher of these journals, was organized exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes to enhance the well-being of people with disabilities, their parents, and the professionals who are devoted to their interests.
