HE'S been sailing since 2001, but this winter 19-year-old Theo Braaf of Grassy Park hopes to board a much larger vessel than he's used to - a multi-masted tall ship.
Braaf, a second-year student at False Bay College's Boat Building Academy, was part of the South African team which was set to participate in its first Tall Ships' Race, an international youth event that's as much a cultural exchange as it is a competition.
But delays in getting his passport, caused by last year's public sector strike kept him at home.
"It was very disappointing," he said.
