PRIMARY schools in Lewis are to take part in a pioneering new study that will investigate whether 'brain training' games should become a part of the curriculum.
Already trialled on a small group in Dundee, the study which will take place from April to June will see 32 schools and more than 900 pupils taking part.
Pupils in the Dundee trial were given a maths test at the beginning or the trial before using 'More Brain Training' from Dr Kawashima on the Nintendo DS for 20 minutes at the start of each day for 10 weeks.
The game features reading tests, problem-solving exercises and memory puzzles designed to exercise the brain.
