STUDENTS could be expelled from Sheffield University after they threw a drunken party which was gatecrashed by hundreds of uninvited guests thanks to the internet.
Details of the bash were circulated on social networking website Facebook and, by the early hours, as many as 300 revellers had gathered on quiet Oakholme Road between Broomhill and Endcliffe.
Police were called and 10 people were arrested. Nine received on-the-spot fines and one was cautioned for drunk and disorderly behaviour.
University managers admit the party was the "worst case of public disturbance" since the old Pyjama Jump.
