Gnarls Barkley's second album is called The Odd Couple, which could bethe name of almost any album by any duo. In rock, unless they're siblings, duosare usually odd couples: Simon and Garfunkel, Lennox and Stewart, Tennant andLowe, Jack and Meg White. Some, like Sparks, are siblings and still wildlymismatched.

The men behind Gnarls Barkley, Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo fit neatly into thistradition, while also evoking odd couples from further afield, such as Laureland Hardy. Danger Mouse is a skinny boffin with an Afro, Cee-Lo a portly partyanimal with a gleaming pate.
