The Football Pools - formerly the Littlewoods Pools - is to launch a digital offensive as it moves to reinvent itself as an online brand.

The company has drafted in a raft of digital agencies ahead of the push this summer and aims to double its online users every year over the next three years.

It sees the web as "critical" to reviving the fortunes of the 85-year- old brand, whose player-base has declined from 8m to approximately 700,000 since the advent of the National Lottery.
