As thousands of Filipinos troop to the provinces to observe Holy Week, Deparment of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Jose "Lito" L. Atienza Jr. yesterday urged the people to reflect and be kind to the environment.
Atienza asked the people to observe the Holy Week with wholesome actions like reducing the generation of garbage, maintaining the lush vegetation of forests and ecotourism sites or planting trees, and being kind to the environment.
Filipino Roman Catholics mark Holy Week from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. A long four-day weekend starts on Maundy Thursday and ends on Easter Sunday.
