March 10 (PTI Economic Service) -- When Finance Minister P Chidambaram decided to play Santa Claus to farmers with this year's Budget, waiving off loans to the tune of Rs 60,000 crore, there was very little expectation in the Indian auto industry that he would take any substantive measures for the sector.
Already a beneficiary of the finance minister's gestures in 2006, when he cut the excise duty on small cars to 16 per cent from 24 per cent, this time around the industry's attitude to the run up of the Budget bordered to indifference. ...
