Despite an 18-point effort by standout 6-foot shotmaker Jen Wehner, formerly unbeaten Section III Class C girls basketball champion Cooperstown was trounced in an NYSPHSAA state tournament semifinal 63-39 by Haldane from Section I at Hudson Valley Community College Saturday.
Haldane (22-4) advances to a state Class C title game today vs. Madrid-Waddington-X (21-5), a 42-35 winner over Avon-V in the other C semifinal. With the loss, Cooperstown finished 25-1.
