Abstract: A procedure is presented for assessment of the performance of reinforced concrete bridge columns. Fourteen circular reinforced concrete bridge columns were tested under a constant axial load and a cyclically reversed horizontal load. A computer program, named RCAHEST (reinforced concrete analysis in higher evaluation system technology), was used to analyze these reinforced concrete structures. A damage index based on the predicted hysteretic behavior of a reinforced concrete bridge column was used.
