There is no cheering in the press box - or along press row - and one of my assignments last weekend definitely involved some cheering.
Where I came from, life would grind to a halt when one of the local high school teams would make it to a state tournament. We'd load into our Ford Fairmonts and head to Madison. The last one out of Wisconsin Rapids would turn out the lights.
In larger communities, sadly, there must be too many lights to turn out or too many reasons why people can't flip their own switch to off and find time to support their school.
Last week, I wasn't going to be one of them.
