Picture this: It's March 27, 1921, and 2,000 people are sitting on the grassy knolls of Daisy Dell. Darkness envelops the Mulholland Hills above, but a hint of light is creeping over their peaks.

As the last verse of the poem "The Master is Coming" is read, the first rays of sunshine burst forth onto the service below.

The trumpets sound, the small orchestra plays and the audience sings "Holy Holy Holy," ending the first Easter Sunrise Service at what would become the Hollywood Bowl.
