As Book Reviews Editor for the new International Journal of Multiple Research Approaches, I felt impelled to ask 'Why bother with book reviews?' Certainly, they have been accused of symbolizing a devaluation of books, of being a substitute for reading the book itself, as an excuse for parading the reviewer's critical or expressive skills, and as a strategic device for promoting or undermining sales, and so I needed to consider whether they can still provide valuable advice for busy readers who are looking for an informed and reliable opinion as to what is worth ...
