From wild to mild in 100 days of endless winter.
That's the daunting task a trio of Dane County horse trainers have undertaken as they try to train three horses who were captured from a wild band of mustangs on the Nevada-California border.
For Lori Wegner of Stoughton it's meant seven broken ribs and a fractured shoulder, but she still maintains that Trace, a mustang, is the smartest, most playful horse she's ever trained.
"He's definitely been part of my journey as a trainer," she said. "I've learned so much from him, and I just really admire him as a true survivor."
