The ISP Association has come to the defence of behavioural targeting company Phorm as it comes under investigation by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) after complaints from the privacy lobby.
"If Phorm complies with the law, then it sounds like a damn good service," said Nick Lansman, secretary-general of the ISPA.
ISPA's comments come as the ICO has confirmed that it has requested information from Phorm about how it intends to meet privacy standards. This week the Foundation for Information Policy Research branded Phorm's plans illegal.
