A cash boost of [pounds sterling]452,000 will be pumped into Wearside to help nip bad behaviour in the bud.
Government ministers Ed Balls and Beverley Hughes announced the new initiative to rid the streets of bad behaviour by providing cash to launch activities to keep kids off the streets.
The cash injection forms part of the Youth Taskforce Action Plan and will be used to set up schemes to keep youngsters out of trouble.
A pilot scheme in Jarrow saw the launch of a successful Friday Night Club that has already attracted a number of kids who were in trouble or at risk of getting into trouble.
