High trait anger and stress, ineffective patterns of anger expression, and coping are risk factors for the development of disease and negative social behaviors in children and adults. While the presence of these psychobehavioral risk factors is linked to hypertension, (1,2) cancer, (3) and asthma (4) in adults, more immediate health and behavioral outcomes in children are increased blood pressure levels, (5,6) respiratory illnesses, (7) suicide, (8) and overweight, (9) as well as negative social behaviors such as bullying and aggressiveness.
