Fort Myers, Fla. -- Righthander Brian Bass walked one batter against Philadelphia on Friday but got through a scoreless sixth inning as he closes in on a roster spot.
Bass lowered his ERA to 1.59 and drew more praise from manager Ron Gardenhire for being aggressive and not being afraid to pitch inside.
"That bodes well for a guy out of options," Gardenhire said. "That's always a good thing."
Indications are that the Twins fear they will lose the 26-year old Bass to waivers if they try to cut him and send him to the minors. As long as he pitches well, he has an excellent chance of being the ...
