Article: EXCEPTIONAL GAINS BOOST 9-MTH PROFIT OF MALAYSIA'S BERJAYA CORP.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 Asia Pulse - Berjaya Corporation Berhad (KLSE:3395) has chalked up a 251.7 per cent jump in nine-month pre-tax profit to RM682.668 million (US$214 million) that was largely contributed by its property and consumer marketing operations as well as exceptional gains from asset sales.

For the nine months ended 31 January 2008, its revenue jumped 22.8 per cent to RM2.040 billion from RM1.662 billion in the previous corresponding period, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia on March 27.

Its earnings per share surged to 11.24 sen from 1.81 sen previously.
