Panama-based financial services group Grupo Assa SA said its net profit rose 40.7% last year, thanks to strong performances at its insurance and banking subsidiaries, reports Dow Jones (March 8, 2008). Net profit was US$24.9 million, up from US$17.7 million in 2006, the company said in a filing with the Panamanian Stock Exchange.
