Only three years ago, the NL West was a bit of an embarrassment. The division sent an 82-80 team (San Diego) to the playoffs, the Diamondbacks and Rockies were suffering through what seemed like interminable rebuilding processes and the Giants and Dodgers were falling apart before our eyes.
It's amazing how much things have changed. The division had the best overall record in the majors last year and, with the exception of San Francisco, the remaining four teams are all genuine playoff contenders.
