Before the sold-out crowd of 46,000 fans sees the Seattle Mariners play ball Opening Day, they'll have to get to Safeco Field.
Traffic is expected to be heavy Monday starting as early as noon; fans are advised to plan accordingly. If you're not going to the game, consider avoiding streets near Safeco Field.
The 3:40 p.m. game - gates open at 1:40 p.m. - is expected to tie up traffic despite wide availability of Metro Transit buses on surface streets and through the reopened bus tunnel. With so many people funneling into one place, it's a matter of "drivers, beware."
The best plan is to opt for transit or to walk.
