"NO TO capitalism!" shout the demonstrators. No to reform, echo the communists who dominate Ukraine's parliament. Calls for President Leonid Kuchma to resign have grown ever louder since he won stronger executive powers by popular vote this summer. Prospects for economic stability, which looked better a few months ago, are now looking worse.
Last month parliament tried to take all gas and oil companies off the list of firms due to be privatised. It had earlier forbidden the sale of 6,200 state enterprises.
