Anti-drug campaigns may have negative effects.(DRUGS)(Brief article)

Anti-drug advertising campaigns that use scare tactics to warn young people about the negative effects of drugs may themselves have negative effects, according to a paper published in the November 2007 edition of the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health. The paper, written by researchers from Liverpool John Moores Hospital in the UK, states that not only is there a lack of evidence to suggest that these anti-drugs campaigns are effective, but such campaigns may also normalise drug use by suggesting that it is more prevalent than it actually is. ...
