SAN JOSE, Calif.--Nov. 21--The San Jose Mercury News will reorganize its advertising, marketing and product-development staffs in ways that newspaper officials hope will promote efficiency, increase revenues and help advertisers.
But the changes also will lead to the elimination of an unknown number of management jobs in the advertising department. There are currently 40 managers in a department of roughly 230 employees.
