MEMBERS of the Royal British Legion in Ballyclare held a special celebration last week to mark the 90th birthday of Second World War veteran Isaac Higginson.
The local Legion club's oldest member, Isaac served in the Royal Navy from 1934 until 1948, enjoying a distinguished career during which he took part in several major naval campaigns around the world.
In peacetime a young Isaac enjoyed playing with the naval band, but when war broke out in 1939 he was posted to HMS Valiant and later served on HMS Black Prince.
