A WOMAN who was brought to Britain from her home in Latvia with the promise of a factory job ended up being traded as a sex slave, a court heard.
Far from finding a better life, the 26-year-old had her wages taken off her and was traded to people by Peteris Kalva (38) to "pay off her debts" because he had paid for her to travel from her homeland, and found her a job.
On one occasion, the woman was even presented to Kalva's "godfather" as a present for him to have sex with, prosecutor Angela Rafferty told Cambridge Crown Court.
Kalva, of Cherry Road, Wisbech, who is married, denies sex trafficking and inciting prostitution in July and August ...
