Jawaharlal Nehru [1889-1964] was one of the foremost leaders of the Indian nationalist movement and the first Prime Minister of independent India. His political career spans half a century of nationalist politics, and there is an enormous amount of published and unpublished material on him. Fifty volumes of his collected works have already been published, and at least twenty more are to come.
